Communities

Hands together to show a working community.

About

Ailsa Campbell is a strategic partner with a proven track record of delivering creative solutions to get things done in community-led development.

Blending 30 years of expertise in communication design with hands-on experience, Ailsa helps communities and their organisations turn ideas into action—whether they’re just starting out or looking to grow.

Approach & Values

Ailsa has a collaborative approach, working with communities, local and national government, funders and commercial partners. As a community volunteer herself, she has 18 years of ‘on the ground’ experience, understanding the challenges community groups face and appreciating the passion they bring and the time they give.

Drawing on her own experience, Ailsa supports and leads community volunteers, helping organisations gain confidence, clarity and momentum as they pursue their goals. At the heart of her work is a commitment to uniting people, building social capital, and creating stronger, more resilient communities.

Ailsa partners with a trusted network of consultants specialising in community legislation, property law, and public relations, bringing them into projects as needed to provide tailored expertise.

Background

Ailsa has deep expertise in community-led development, the regeneration of local assets, social enterprise, and the building of social capital. As Co-Founder and Chair of Crieff Community Trust (CCT) since 2013, she has successfully led a wide range of initiatives—from two community action plans and a Community Right to Buy application, to the launch of a co-working space social enterprise. Ailsa has also guided the organisational development of the CCT board to ensure long-term sustainability, and helped establish a Town Team that brings together multiple local organisations around a shared strategy for Crieff’s future and its capital projects.

Alongside her community leadership, Ailsa is a professional graphic designer with 30 years of experience. She recently completed an Executive MBA at the University of Strathclyde Business School, where she was awarded the Dean’s Prize for her dissertation on building social capital in communities.

Case Studies

Ailsa was a joy to work with – creative, responsive to our needs, punctual, professional and fun. We worked with Ailsa on communications products for a big community project. The banners, leaflets and fliers she developed enabled us to communicate our messages in a professional and consistent manner, using a style appropriate to our audience.
